Likewise, existing fans of Jomboy who want to share breakdowns with the uninitiated are presented with an impossible task – which video to send so the recipient can really get it.
We’re here to help with this list of essential Jomboy breakdown videos – a jumping off point. This list is totally subjective, the result of conversations with fans and suggestions.

The Aaron Boone “Savages in the Box” Breakdown
One of Jomboy’s most popular breakdown videos, this is commonly known as the “Aaron Boone savages” breakdown and is often referred to as Jomboy’s first major viral breakdown video. It was the subject of an ESPN article in August 2019.
As reported by ESPN, Jimmy leaned on his lip-reading skills and mic isolation techniques to figure out what Yankees manager Aaron Boone was yelling at umpire Brennan Miller. Boone told the umpire his players were “savages in that (redacted) box,” which became a rallying cry for the Yankees team and fans.
Brewers Pitcher Adrian Houser Makes an Error and Then Pukes on the Mound
Tough day at the office for Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Adrian Houser, who fails to field a chopper back to the mound and then manages to lose his lunch right next to the mound. And this isn’t the first time! As Jomboy says, “Houser’s a puker. … It’s his intimidation thing. You’re not gunna want to face a guy who’s puking all over the ball, throwing puke balls right at your face.” For bonus points, Jomboy includes some great dental tips for the viewers. The most-viewed breakdown of all time (as of April 2023).
The Astros Sign-Stealing, trash can Scandal Breakdown
Widely known as the “Astros sign stealing” or “Astros trash can” breakdown, the above was the direct result of Mike Fiers warning teammates (and ultimately, The Athletic) that the Astros hitters used a video feed which ran from a camera in the outfield to the dugout to decode signs and relay them to hitters during games. Astros players or team staffers watching teh feed would notify the batter which pitch was coming next using a cue (such as banging on a trash can).
Following the allegations, Jomboy pored over hours of Astros footage to see if he could identify signals. When he did, he compiled this breakdown video and published it to his social media channels. The video evidence added fuel to the outrage over the scandal which forced Major League Baseball’s hand to investigate.
Major League Baseball investigated the allegations and determined the Astros employed this strategy during their World Series-winning 2017 season and part of the 2018 season. As a result, Astros manager AJ Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow were suspended and ultimately fired. The league also fined the team $5 million and stripped them of several draft picks in 2020 and 2021, the strongest sanctions MLB has ever issued against a club.
Jared Hughes Sprints in from the Bullpen, His Catcher is Not Impressed
Philadelphia Phillies reliever Jared Hughes sprints in from the dugout and – well, that was a mistake. Not only was he winded and unable to catch his breath on the mound, but he gives up a big 3-run home run, and his catcher saw it coming.
The Varitek & A-Rod Brawl
Jomboy goes back in time to revisit an all-time moment in the Yankees / Red Sox rivalry, the Jason Varitek vs. Alex Rodriguez brawl from July 2004. Jomboy’s lipreading skills are on full display as he shows us what Alex Rodriguez, Tanyon Sturtze, and Gabe Kapler were yelling at each other on the field at Fenway Park.
Pedro Martinez Throws Don Zimmer to the Ground
Another all-time moment in the Yankees / Red Sox rivalry, Jomboy goes back to the day Red Sox Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez threw at Yankees outfielder Karim Garcia and raised the temperature at Fenway. Some tremendous lipreading by Jomboy and a terrific breakdown of the brawl during which Martinez threw Don Zimmer to the ground.
