Kobe Mayo calling himself out in the
dugout. Here's the situation though. I
I'm going to defend him a little bit.
Kade Kavali's on the bump. He's retired
13 of the last 14 batters. They've got a
four nothing lead. O's have done
nothing. And the first batter of the
inning on the first pitch, he hits a
home run. And he gets to round the
bases. And he gets to flap his wings as
he rounds the bases, which everybody
wants to do. That's the goal. Run the
bases. Flap your Look at this little
kid. He's all about it. Yep. Yep.
Bye-bye birdie. Flying away. We're the
best. The next batter, home run. First
batter hits a home run. Second batter
hits a home run. 4 nothing. Becomes four
to one. We're flapping wings as we round
the bases. It's a fun inning. Everyone's
juiced up. So Tyler O'Neal comes. He
hits home plate. He says, "What up?" And
then he's going to look at Kobe Mayo and
he's like, "Yo, that a boy. That was
fun. This guy's flapping his wings. It's
Everyone's doing it." The third batter,
he hits one that can't be fielded. I
don't know if they gave that an error or
hit. Looks like he could have maybe went
down and got it. So now Mayo's up. We've
gone home run, home run, single. If he
hits a home run, it's three home runs in
the inning. It's a tied ball game.
They've stormed all the way back after
doing nothing. He's licking his lips.
He's excited. He's going to buckle in
and battle. A first pitch curveball.
Wasn't expecting that. 0 and one.
Another one. Wasn't expecting that. I'd
like a fast ball, Cade. So, 02 now. And
right before the pitch, time, time,
time, time, time. I'd like to mess with
the pitcher a little bit. It was another
curveball. Good thing he called time.
Catcher's like, "It's all right. Don't
get frustrated." He got us. He got us
bad. There's What is that? Slider. It's
another breaking ball. 02 fast ball
right down. Please give that to me
again. Please give Thank you. A little
up and in. Turns on it. And it's not
just a bat flip. It's a big old bat flip
because he's not doing it for himself.
The whole team just hit three home runs
in the inning. They stormed back. They
tied the game. This is a we just tied
the game bad flip. I get to flap my
wings now. Bad flip. The problem is it's
not a home run. It's a foul ball. And
you can usually look at the crowd and
they'll be honest and all the orange
shirts, none of them are celebrating at
all, but a lot of the red fans start
pointing and say, "Foul, foul, foul."
And they're not devastated. They're not
hands on their heads. The fans are
usually pretty honest because they to
fake a reaction that quickly hard to do.
So he's still rounding first. He's like,
"What? Are you serious? I flipped the
hell of my bat like a jackass. So,
please could this be a home run just
standing on? Oh, boy. And they're like,
"Yeah, okay. Let's review it." Miguel
Cairo is like, "What are you talking
about from my angle?" And I didn't even
see it. But from my angle, looked like a
home run to me. Now he's got to walk
back. Pitcher's chirping him. Cavali's
like, "It was foul, dude. It was foul."
And I saw what you did cuz he was
watching him the whole time. Look at him
staring at him. He's watching. He's And
then he sees the bat go in the air and
he's like, "What? What's going on here?"
So, he saw Watch. He doesn't want to
watch. He's just looking at the batter
and now you're flipping it. What? Look
at this shot. I think it's foul. That's
a crazy cool shot. Kudos to the
cameraman. Let's zoom in a little for
the folks at home. There it is. Oh, but
you know, angles are very tricky.
Where's that camera stationed? We got
another camera right in the outfield and
that has the ball coming down on the
foul side of the pole. And I like this.
This camera is actually a pretty honest
angle. It's that guy in red. He's the
one filming it. And his camera is pretty
much down the line. Sure, he's a little
closer to fair territory, but he's in
that little camera well spot right
there. So, that's a decent angle. And he
has it foul.
So, the bad flip was on a foul ball. And
Mayo's like, "Oh, damn.
I I sure I sure feel silly now." And
Kavali's still kind of like, "Yeah, you
should feel silly, dude. You should." I
mean, nice hit. Foul ball. Umpire says,
"After review, Colin feels confirmed,
not stands confirmed." He's like,
"Damn."
Cavali's laughing at him like, "Oh yeah,
bat flip for crazy. Looks like Nathaniel
Right. Son of a Pour me a drink."
So the at bat continues 0 and2 and he's
like, "I'm not coming inside again. That
seemed like a pretty risky idea. will
just stay away with the breaking ball
since she wanted the inside fast ball
and it works. You know, good situation
awareness by Cade and the threat is over
and Mayo feels like his words a jackass
because he bat flipped like crazy. The
curveball. Nice pitching. Here he is in
the dugout explaining like it just
launched left. Yeah. Yeah. It's a
bummer.
I look stupid. I thought it was a home
run. was a foul ball and I
flipped my bat like a jackass.
Damn. Good news. The very next game he
hits a home run. The bat flip is there.
It's gentle. It's like a bat drop and
turn. And guess what he gets to do? Flap
his wings.
