What Happened

In a pivotal moment of Game 2 of the ALCS between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Houston Astros, outfielder Manny Margot makes a series of impactful plays that shift the momentum of the game. With two outs in the top of the first inning, Astros second baseman Jose Altuve fields a ground ball and makes a routine play, but the Rays' baserunning leads to an unusual error. Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi is not running hard to first base and Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel fails to properly field the ball, allowing Choi to reach safely. Margot steps up to the plate in the bottom of the inning and crushes a 400-foot solo home run to center field, giving the Rays a 1-0 lead and stunning Astros starter Lance McCullers Jr. and the Houston dugout. In the top of the second, the Astros threaten to bounce back, putting two runners on base with two outs. Margot then makes a spectacular diving catch in right field, robbing the Astros of a potential run-scoring hit and preserving the Rays' lead. Margot's catch is an impressive display of athleticism, as he races towards the wall, loses the ball in the sun and still manages to make the grab, colliding hard with the outfield fence in the process. The Rays' stellar defense and Margot's heroics have the Astros reeling, as the game remains a one-run affair. Manny Margot's impact on both sides of the ball has been pivotal and his performance has left the Astros frustrated and the Rays in control of the game.
