The Yankees and the Rain Score 6 in one inning vs the Astros, a breakdown
What Happened
The New York Yankees and the Houston Astros are facing off in a crucial matchup, with the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning. Aaron Judge, the Yankees' star slugger, steps up to the plate, looking to give his team the lead. The skies open up and a heavy downpour begins to drench the field. Pitcher Framber Valdez of the Astros struggles to grip the slippery ball and he walks Yankees infielder Edwin Encarnación. The umpires pause the game and the grounds crew rushes to prepare the field for continued play. After a brief delay, the game resumes and Gleyber Torres, the Yankees' young infielder, steps up to the plate. Despite the rainy conditions, Torres crushes a three-run home run, sending the Yankees' dugout and the fans into a frenzy. The Astros' dugout looks on in disbelief as the rain continues to pour. Valdez continues to have trouble with the wet mound and the umpires have to stop the game again to allow the grounds crew to attend to the playing surface. Astros manager AJ Hinch is visibly frustrated, but the game presses on. DJ LeMahieu, the Yankees' veteran infielder, steps up and hits a solo home run, extending the Yankees' lead to 6-1. The Astros bring in a new pitcher, but the Yankees' offense continues to surge, loading the bases with walks. As the rain intensifies, the umpires finally decide to delay the game, bringing out the tarp to protect the field. The Yankees have seized control of the game, putting up a six-run inning in the rain-soaked conditions. This pivotal matchup between the Yankees and Astros, two of the top teams in the American League, has seen a dramatic turn of events, with the Yankees' bats coming alive in the late innings despite the inclement weather. The Yankees' fans are elated, while the Astros' dugout is left to regroup and prepare for the remainder of this critical series.

Pitcher can't get a grip on the ball. Walks Edwin. Um, goes, oh no, this
ain't good. Let me go talk to the ground screw. Is this it? It's coming
down hard for about five minutes. then it's going to end. And this will be
all that comes? No, no, no. But we should play. It'll be five minutes, then
it's going to stop. And we can play through it. Yep. Okay. He says it's
going to pass, so we're going to play through it. All right. Boone's like, really?
Okay. Cool. I mean, he's got to throw the ball. Look at all these people
leaving in the background, not even looking when, bam, that happens. Three run home run
for Glaber Torres. He's hitting a lot of home runs in the last couple days.
Pouring rain. Absolutely pouring. When Glaber hits home runs, he's like the happiest little puppy.
Look at him. and his translator, Marlon, dapping each other up. Yep. Hell yeah. All
right. It's still pouring rain. Pitcher Framber slipping on the mound. Ump's like, come on.
It's getting really wet out there, all right? Hey, is it stopping? Because he could
use it to stop. Cunningham runs back. He's like, what'd you say? Is it stopping?
Yeah. Okay. Well, you know what? Can you get some drying agent for the mound?
Because he's slipping. All right. We're on it. Hey, you and all your rakes. You
got a shovel. You got a stomper. You got two rakes. Let's get after it.
Hinch is like, are we serious? We're really doing this? Yeah. Hell yeah, we are.
Going fast motion, too. Because the grounds crew is a well -oiled machine, and they
got it good. And now you're good, and you should be good. Uh -oh. Ball.
And then strike. But call the ball. Walks him. Hinch says, you got to go,
man. You're not our rain pitcher. We didn't know this coming in. We'll got to
go to our guy out of the bullpen. He's great in the rain. He's going
to face DJ LeMayhew here, who goes into Monument Park for the
sixth run of the inning. He's like, am I getting fucking blamed for this? Because
that sucked. Voight does not stop it. He gets on base. Now Gary
Sanchez is coming up, and he started this whole inning with a home run. And
the umps are like, you know what? Yeah. I think I'm just going to go
ahead and say we delay this. And here comes the tarp.
