Right hook gets this NMSU player ejected, a breakdown
What Happened
In the first quarter of the college basketball game between the Liberty Flames and the New Mexico State Aggies, a physical altercation breaks out between two players who have just entered the game. Robert Carpenter of New Mexico State and Shiloh Robinson of Liberty find themselves jostling for position on the court, with some minor contact and shoving. However, the situation quickly escalates as Carpenter appears to deliver a right hook to Robinson's face, knocking him to the ground. The officials immediately call a technical foul on Carpenter, resulting in his ejection from the game. Replays show Carpenter and Robinson engaged in a tussle under the basket, with Carpenter using his hand to push Robinson's head down. As Robinson turns to leave, Carpenter swings his fist, connecting flush on Robinson's face. The Liberty player is visibly hurt, clutching his eye as he remains on the court. The coaches on both benches react with visible frustration and anger. The New Mexico State head coach is seen gesturing emphatically, clearly upset with Carpenter's actions. The announcers also express their shock at the sudden outbreak of violence between the two players, who had barely seen any playing time prior to the incident. Carpenter is subsequently suspended indefinitely from the team by the New Mexico State coaching staff, as the officials review the play and make their decision. The game is temporarily halted as medical personnel attend to Robinson, who appears to have suffered an eye injury from the punch. The altercation between Carpenter and Robinson has cast a pall over an otherwise routine early-season matchup between the Liberty Flames and the New Mexico State Aggies. The stakes are high as both teams look to establish themselves early in the season, but this unexpected outburst of aggression has now become the dominant storyline. Fans and analysts alike will be closely watching to see how the aftermath of this incident unfolds and how it might impact the rest of the season for both programs.

This breakdown is brought to you by SeatGeek, where you can use code JOMBOY to get $20 off
your first purchase. And these two players, number 21 on New Mexico State and number 12
on Liberty, they've just entered the game. They haven't played yet. We're early on,
okay? But they're going to start bumping into each other, and then it gets physical. I mean,
a punch is thrown, and it's kind of crazy. So this is the first time they brush into each other,
and it's rather normal. But I was searching for any history that what might have led to what we
see. And as you can see, that's nothing. That's just two guys playing basketball, being like,
oh, I know that you exist. I'm going to guard you. And he's like, I know that you exist. I'm
going to get open. And then nothing, right? Normal basketball. Now, later on, 21's going
to come up for the screen, and then there's contact. And now they're wrestling in the key,
and there's contact, and then the rebound. And then, oh my goodness, a punch to the face.
Technical.
Ejected. Okay. And he's hurt. And how did that happen? So it's Robert Carpenter on New Mexico
State, and Shiloh Robinson's on the ground here for Liberty. And you got to, I mean, we'll go
and show you a close-up. He runs away, just runs right past him on the ground. He's hurt. His eye
hurts. Maybe everything hurts. Coach is fucking, oh, look at the coach. He's so mad. He's just,
I'm fucking, oh my God. Suspended indefinitely from the team. So here's the tussle.
33 is kind of on his back here. And that sucks if you're 21. You're like, dude, get off my back.
And then right there, 21 kind of pushes his head down. See his hands in his hair. And right there,
that's a little push of the head as they jockey for space. And 21 in white loses his balance,
and he uses 33, wraps his arm around him, and uses him to stabilize himself because
he's got push in the head. So he's not going to fall. I'll use you. 33 didn't like that.
And he's going to be like, I didn't like that. And I'm going to now throw my shoulder into you
as I turn and run out. It's going to conveniently be masked as I'm just turning to leave
because we have the ball now, but I'm going to run my shoulder into you. And immediately,
21's like, I'll sock you right in the nose. I mean, I'll just sock you one. And he punches
him immediately. I mean, almost just like that was his fight or flight. I got a shoulder into
my chest. I'm going to punch you in the face. And that's what happened. It's just a straight
up takedown. You don't see it too often. Boom. Right to the nose slash eye situation. So yeah,
New Mexico State said, we don't like that. The coach is looking around like, nope, don't like
that. Sorry. Other coaches like, what happened? These guys barely even played. And the announcers
look like that. Ah, thank you to SeatGeek for sponsoring the video. Like I said, if you use
