Lloyd McClendon rips every ump after he and Mike Zunino are ejected, a breakdown

What Happened

In a highly charged moment during a 2015 game between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees, emotions boil over on the field. The Mariners' manager, Lloyd McClendon and catcher Mike Zunino are both ejected from the game by the home plate umpire after a series of disputed calls. The sequence begins when Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner strikes out, but the umpire rules that he did not swing. Gardner starts walking to the dugout, acknowledging the strikeout, but the umpire calls it a ball, much to Gardner's confusion. Next, Alex Rodriguez comes to the plate with a 3-2 count and Zunino appears to check his swing, but the umpire again rules no swing. Zunino vehemently disagrees, yelling at the umpire, "You've got to be kidding me! Really, get the hell out of here!" The umpire immediately ejects Zunino from the game. McClendon then storms out of the dugout, furious over the umpire's calls. He rips off his hat and begins yelling, using profanity to express his displeasure. "You've got to be fucking kidding me! I've got boobs! I don't know," McClendon shouts, seemingly referencing the Yankees logo on his jersey. The umpire ejects McClendon as well and the manager responds by throwing his hat to the ground and kicking it forcefully. McClendon then walks up to the home plate umpire, continuing his tirade. "That's two fucking times! Both of these guys struck out!" he yells, referring to the previous calls on Gardner and Zunino. He then strides over to the third base umpire, still venting his frustration. The only umpire McClendon does not directly confront is the second base umpire, though he gestures towards him, saying, "No, all of you were fucking bad." The crowd at Yankee Stadium erupts in cheers, clearly entertained by McClendon's impassioned outburst. The game eventually goes into extra innings and the very next pitch after the ejections results in a go-ahead double by Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira. The Yankees would go on to win the game in extra frames, but the lasting memory is of McClendon's fierce defense of his players and his team.
