Batter called out for taking too long between pitches, a breakdown

What Happened

In the top of the seventh inning, the Long Beach baseball team is leading the Hawaii team 4-0. Hawaii catcher Dallas Duarte steps up to the plate. Duarte takes his time getting ready, adjusting his equipment and looking to the third base coach, which is causing a delay between pitches. The new college pitch clock rule requires batters to be ready to hit within 10 seconds of the previous pitch, but Duarte is exceeding that time limit. The umpire warns Duarte that he is taking too long, and on the next pitch, he calls a strike due to the timing violation. Duarte expresses his frustration, faking a bunt mid-pitch, which the umpire also calls a strike. The catcher then appeals to the umpire that Duarte is still exceeding the time limit, and the umpire calls Duarte out, striking him out to end the at-bat. The Hawaii manager comes out to argue the call, trying to physically block the umpire from ejecting him. But the umpire ejects the manager as well, citing the new rules that allow for immediate ejection of anyone who argues timing violations. The manager slowly exits the field, perhaps trying to delay as much as possible. Later in the game, Duarte steps up to bat again, this time in the bottom of the ninth inning with Hawaii trailing 6-1. On a 3-2 count, the umpire calls a borderline pitch a strike, denying Duarte a walk. Duarte turns and says something to the umpire, who immediately ejects him from the game. The Hawaii manager comes out to escort Duarte off the field, with Duarte showing a cross symbol on his hair as he departs. The new Hawaii catcher comes in, and the pitcher decides to try and pick off the runner, which is successful. The catcher then yells from the dugout, "Ball don't lie!" suggesting the batter should have been out earlier. However, the first pitch to the new catcher is hit for a home run, dampening the team's spirits.
