Miguel Cabrera and Ron Gardenhire get ejected, a breakdown
What Happened
The Detroit Tigers are hosting the Minnesota Twins in a divisional matchup, with the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning. Detroit designated hitter Miguel Cabrera steps up to the plate, taking his time to get ready for the pitch. Home plate umpire Tim Timmons repeatedly tells Cabrera to hurry up and get in the batter's box, but Cabrera refuses, insisting that this is how he has prepared for at-bats throughout his 19-year career in the major leagues. The heated exchange escalates, with Cabrera challenging Timmons and the umpire ultimately ejecting the future Hall of Famer from the game. Cabrera's manager, Ron Gardenhire, immediately rushes out to defend his player and argue the call. Gardenhire also ends up getting ejected by Timmons for the confrontation. As Cabrera and Gardenhire head to the clubhouse, Twins slugger Jordan Alvarez is taking his time between pitches, much to the frustration of Cabrera watching from the dugout. Cabrera calls out the umpire for not enforcing the pace of play rules consistently and Timmons ejects Cabrera from the dugout as well, tying Gardenhire's season-high total of eight ejections. Gardenhire returns to the field to further argue the decision, telling Timmons, "This is a fucking shame. You ought to be ashamed." Cabrera then calls Gardenhire a "crybaby" and prepares to hurl another insult, but stops himself when he realizes the cameras are on him. The heated confrontation underscores the frustrations of the struggling Tigers, who entered the game with a 47-103 record, last in the AL Central division. Despite their on-field woes, the team now leads the league in player ejections, with Cabrera's four being the most among any individual player this season. Though the game continues without the ejected manager and star player, the incident has captured the attention of baseball fans and analysts, who will surely debate the umpire's handling of the situation and whether Cabrera was unfairly targeted. The fallout from this emotional exchange could linger, as the Tigers look to finish their season on a high note despite the clear tensions within the organization.

Click timestamps to jump to that momentGardenaire and Miguel Cabrera both got ejected out of the game last week. Cabrera is
talking with the ump. The ump's telling him to get in the box. Hurry up.
You're delaying it. He's like, shut up. This is what I do. I've been in
the league for 30 years now, and this is what I do. I take my
practice swings. I get in the box. The ump's telling him to hurry up, telling
him to speed it up. He doesn't like that. He's going to take the first
pitch once he's settled, and then he's going to fly out, and that's the end
of Miguel Cabrera's at -bat, and that's basically it. But the ump was telling him
he had to hurry up because that's what he's been doing. Goes to the dugout.
He says, I said, something's up, and this is what I do. He's like, blah,
blah, blah. So you get it. This one's brought to you by Kicks Under Cost
on Twitter because people are getting kicked out of games. You guys get it. Anyway,
Miguel Cabrera's DH -ing, so he's in the dugout, and Jordan Alvarez, he's taking time
in between pitches. He's fouling balls off, stepping out, taking practice swings, getting his bearings,
fixing his gloves, and Miguel Cabrera's in the dugout like, hey, why don't you tell
him to hurry up? If you told me to hurry up, tell him to hurry
up. Why is he getting special treatment? The umpire does not like that, so he
just looks into the dugout and simply throws him out of the game. Jordan's like,
what do you do? Well, what did you do? Why would you throw him out?
What did you do? He did not say a single word to you. No, I'm
not going to fucking listen to you. just threw him out fucking out for no
goddamn reason. You're out of there. That's fucking horseshit. This was Gardner's eighth ejection of
the season. He lost first place. David Bell took it over, so now he ties
him. They both have eight. Miguel Cabrera has the most ejections for a player at
four. I'm trying to say, I gave him three warnings. Gardner's just call the pitches.
Just call balls and strikes. That's bullshit. So the Tigers, not winning a lot of
games, but they are leading the ejection leaderboard. It's good for them. Miguel Cabrera is
going to say, why? Why? And then this is my favorite part. Garden hire comes
under the fence and says, she's a fucking shame. You ought to be ashamed.
And Cabrera is going to call him a cry baby. Oh, I always cry. And
he's going to call him a name. And then he's going to, he's going to
go to call him another name, but see the cameras on him. Oh, whatever. I'm
out of here. This one was brought to you by kicks under cost on Twitter.
