Matt Beaty gets ejected for telling the ump he's bad, a breakdown
What Happened
In a tense game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Miami Marlins, the action heats up in the bottom of the fourth inning. Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer is mowing down batters, striking out four in a row with a devastating arsenal of pitches. However, Marlins hitting coach James Rowson does not agree with a called strike and expresses his displeasure, leading to his ejection from the game by home plate umpire Chad Fairchild. The conflict continues when Dodgers infielder Justin Turner reaches base safely. First baseman Max Muncy then pokes a single up the middle, loading the bases and tying the game in the fourth inning. Rookie outfielder Matt Beaty steps up to the plate, hoping to take advantage of the bases-loaded situation and potentially earn an RBI walk. Beaty takes a few pitches and the umpire's calls start to frustrate him. Beaty believes the umpire is making inconsistent strike zone decisions and he expresses his opinion, saying "that was so bad." Fairchild immediately ejects Beaty from the game, much to the dismay of Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who argues that the umpire's decision was too quick and harsh. Teammate Clayton Kershaw approaches Beaty and asks what he said to the umpire, to which Beaty replies, "All I did was tell him he was bad." Kershaw sympathizes, understanding that players are allowed to voice their opinions about umpires' performances, as long as they don't cross the line into personal attacks. In the aftermath, the Dodgers continue to battle, as a play unfolds with a player's shoe coming loose while trying to turn a double play. The player, likely Beaty's replacement, settles for a single out instead. The tense exchange between Beaty and Fairchild highlights the delicate balance between players' freedom to criticize umpiring and the umpires' authority to maintain order on the field. This incident showcases the emotional intensity and high stakes of a close game between two talented teams fighting for playoff positioning.

and beatty doesn't like that because he
thinks it's pretty similar to the first
pitch she saw
and here's both of them overlaid and
that's kind of where they are
the one on top was called a strike the
one on the
left was called the bald so they're
different but he thinks
you know hey pretty similar pitches you
called one a ball want to strike
and then the ump calls the outside
pitcher strike and baby doesn't like
that at all
because now he's getting the inside and
he's getting the outside and he just
turns to him and he says
so bad and the um ejects him out of the
game
bam now if he said you're
so bad you're so bad
if that was that if you said you're so
bad that's a personal
insult and umpires like per the rules
can eject people
for personal attacks if he said that's
so bad
then i don't know that's a really
incredibly
bad quick hook he probably said you're
so bad i don't know hey
roberts is mad what's going on here
chad hey that's too quick of a call
right there
he's like well i don't care what he said
he's like well he said i was a really
bad umpire hurt my feelings he's like
chad you miss you miss calls like that
all the time
and keep people are allowed to tell you
that they're bad and baby's like well
what what the heck man that was nothing
bower comes up to him
and he says what you say i told him he
was bad
bower says yeah can't be saying that to
humps these days
now kershaw on the crew they're like
what'd you say and he was like all i did
is i told him that he was bad and
they're like well what did he say
oh he said you're gone so i'm gone
kershaw's laughing he likes it

of that
