HR Call Overturned due to Fan interference & Boone Gets Ejected, a breakdown
What Happened
In a critical late-game situation, the New York Yankees are trailing by one run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Star slugger Aaron Judge steps up to the plate, with the chance to tie or even win the game for the Yankees with one swing of the bat. As Judge connects with the pitch, the ball sails high into the air, heading towards the right field seats. A fan in the stands reaches out and makes contact with the ball, potentially altering its trajectory. The umpires immediately call for a video replay review to determine if there was fan interference on the play. After a lengthy review, the umpires rule that the fan did in fact interfere with the play and they call Judge out, negating what would have been a go-ahead home run for the Yankees. Yankees manager Aaron Boone erupts in anger at the umpires' decision, arguing vehemently that the fan's interference did not prevent Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner from making a catch. Boone contends that Gardner had no chance of catching the ball, which was well over his head and that the umpires made the wrong call in ruling Judge out. "Fuck, he would not have caught that," Boone shouts at the umpiring crew. "He's two feet high in the air, the ball's in there - how are you going to assume he catches that?" Boone is eventually ejected from the game for his outburst, but not before making his frustration with the call crystal clear. The Yankees and their fans are left stunned, as a potential game-tying or game-winning home run has been taken off the board due to fan interference. The replay shows that the ball was indeed well over Gardner's head, making it highly unlikely that he would have been able to make the catch, even without the fan's intervention. This critical call in the late innings has massive implications for the outcome of the game, as the Yankees now trail by one run with their final at-bats remaining. The team and their supporters are left wondering what might have been, had the umpires ruled differently on the pivotal fan interference play.

no doubt this kid you're a goddamn idiot
if you're a Yankees fan you're dumb uh
you're just dumb don't do this you just
ruin you just potentially cost us three
runs maybe maybe less whatever this
replay I'm going to get back to this at
the end of the video but that is the
most telling I think they call it an out
now they have the option to just call
this a double a ground rule double they
call it out saying Gordon would have
made that catch and Boon goes a little
crazy he goes did you did you just call
him
out what he lets the UMP talk for a
little bit hears he goes [ __ ] would
not have caught it says a bunch of other
like how are you going to to catch he's
two feet high in the air the ball's in
there how are you going to assume he
catches that the um like well that's
what they told us he's like yeah dude I
was not [ __ ] catching that ball
[ __ ] hor [ __ ] that's [ __ ] [ __ ]
you're out of here oh [ __ ] you [ __ ] all
of you he wouldn't have [ __ ] caught
that he's
mad that's my favorite one right there
just a nice just a nice snap from Boon
[ __ ] three runs what are you guys
[ __ ] watching what are you looking at
there's a [ __ ] chance he catches that
[ __ ] ball there's no way and he's got
I think Boon's got a a point here you
gotta be no let's take a look now we're
going to assume if if he makes this
catch it is Sports Center top one play
now we're just going to assume a top
play is made here's the ball here's the
projectory of the ball
okay I think that's going if we follow
my mouse and the ball I think that's
going here home run now this dude you're
a loser and an idiot you ruin this but
to assume he makes that catch now it hit
his hand once it hits it once it hits
his hand it drops into to his glove a
little bit but if it did not hit his
hand right there that ball is traveling
this way he's not catching it and even
then if he does catch it that's
fantastic but to assume he makes that
catch is crazy
