Coach Throws Himself on the Ground & Gets Ejected, a breakdown
What Happened
Texas Tech head coach Mark Adams is furious as his team battles West Virginia in a tense college basketball game. Late in the game, with Texas Tech trailing by a possession, Texas Tech's Kevin McClung is called for a foul, sending West Virginia to the free throw line. Coach Adams storms onto the court, yelling at the officials and mockingly mimicking their calls. He repeatedly demands a timeout, even though no timeout has been called. Enraged, Coach Adams continues his tirade, his face turning red to match Texas Tech's logo. The officials quickly eject Coach Adams from the game, but not before he takes a moment to respectfully greet West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins. As Coach Adams heads to the locker room, his assistant coach tries to calm him down and urge him to set a good example for the players. West Virginia takes the free throws, extending their lead to three possessions. Texas Tech's players and coaches are visibly frustrated by the officiating, feeling the call on McClung was incorrect and that a timeout should have been granted instead. The Texas Tech assistant coach says that from his vantage point, the West Virginia player was clearly calling for a timeout on the floor, which could have given Texas Tech a chance to press and get back into the game. The assistant coach explains that while Coach Adams has been in the league for five years without ever receiving a technical foul, he felt compelled to fight for his players in that moment, despite respecting the officials. He notes that college basketball can sometimes feature questionable officiating and that coaches have to be willing to stand up for their team when they feel a crucial call has been missed. As the game continues without Coach Adams, the free throw competition resumes, further extending West Virginia's lead. The Texas Tech players and remaining coaching staff must now try to mount a comeback without their head coach, who has been ejected for his impassioned defense of his team.

oh my god from my point of view the west
virginia player
was calling for a timeout on the floor i
could see it and hear it where i was
standing
it's still a two possession game at that
point if that call is made then we've
got a chance to set up our press and
you know still have a chance to play the
game um that call sent a 90
free throw shooter to the line and it's
gonna separate the game to a three
possession game so
you guys know me i've been in this
league five years i don't think i've
ever gotten a technical
i know what bad officiating looks like
i've coached at all different levels
these guys are the best of the best
these three guys out there tonight not
only do i like i respect and trust them
but just in college basketball sometimes
you got to fight for your players and
that was my decision
tonight to do that
