Bellinger robs Tatís, Brusdar goes Crazy and Machado gets mad, a breakdown
What Happened
In Game 2 of the National League Division Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres, the action is intense and the emotions are running high. In the sixth inning, Padres star Manny Machado takes Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw deep for a home run, reminding everyone that these two teams have a storied history as former teammates. In the seventh inning, the game is still a one-run affair when Padres outfielder Trent Grisham hits a home run. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts takes issue with Grisham's bat flip and ejects him from the game. The Dodgers then bring in hard-throwing reliever Brusdar Graterol, who unleashes a casual 100 mph fastball that dazzles everyone watching. Graterol then faces Padres superstar Fernando Tatís Jr. who crushes a deep fly ball to center field that appears destined to give the Padres the lead. However, Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger, not an everyday center fielder, showcases his incredible athleticism by tracking down the ball and making a spectacular catch at the wall. Bellinger celebrates with enthusiasm, throwing up the number one sign even before his feet hit the ground. Graterol's reaction is equally as animated, as he throws his glove and hat in celebration, yelling and thanking the "home run gods" for helping him avoid giving up the go-ahead hit. But the drama is not over, as Machado starts chirping at Graterol from the Padres dugout. Dodgers first baseman Max Muncy then confronts Machado, telling him to "get the fuck out of here" and return to the Padres dugout. Bellinger, still processing his amazing catch, simply sits and reflects on the incredible sequence of events. In the following inning, Machado gets his chance for revenge, stepping up to the plate against Graterol. The first pitch is a slider outside and the second pitch is a fastball up the middle that appears to hit Machado. Whether it was intentional or not, Machado is twisted up by the pitch and the bad blood between these two teams continues to simmer. As the game hangs in the balance, the athletic displays and heated emotions showcase the intense rivalry between the Dodgers and Padres.
