Orioles Manager did not think he should be ejected, a breakdown
What Happened
In the second inning of a game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Cleveland Guardians, a controversial play unfolds. Cleveland's José Ramírez is batting with a full count and a runner on first base. The home plate umpire rules that the pitch has hit Ramírez, awarding him first base. However, the umpires are unsure whether Ramírez had swung at the pitch before being hit. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde argues vehemently with the umpires, asserting that the video replay clearly shows Ramírez swinging at the pitch. Hyde contends that the umpires have missed the call, as they have awarded Ramírez first base despite the apparent swing. The umpires review the play, but they can only examine the hit-by-pitch ruling, not whether Ramírez had swung. This frustrates Hyde, who believes the umpires have made the wrong decision. Tensions escalate as Hyde continues to express his disagreement with the call. The first base umpire then ejects Hyde from the game, citing his persistent arguing. Hyde is furious, believing he was merely walking back to the dugout and had not taken any aggressive actions towards the umpires. He tries to plead his case with the other umpires, but to no avail. As Hyde departs the field, the Orioles' poor start to the game continues. A passed ball advances the runners to second and third base, and the next batter hits a fly ball to left field, which the Orioles' outfielder mishandles, allowing a run to score. The Orioles' dugout is clearly dejected, with outfielder DJ Stewart appearing to wish he had also been ejected from the game. Throughout the exchange, the umpires maintain their composure, with the home plate umpire, known for his "cool hair," attempting to defuse the situation. However, the Orioles' frustration over the perceived missed call and subsequent ejection of their manager sets the tone for a difficult start to the game.

a full count. Ramirez is on deck. There's a runner on first. This one's brought

JOHNBOY when you do. Bet the Yankees to not cover. They're the second worst team
in MLB at covering. They're bad. All right, runners off because it's a full count.
A swing, a not swing. It hit them. It didn't hit them. No one knows
what's going on. They just kind of called the ball and said, it hit me.
Check. Yeah, it hit me. Yeah, just go and check that out. And then you
look here, and yeah, it hit his hand. It hit the back of his hand.
It sure did, but did he swing? Because from the side view, it kind of
looks like he tried to swing. If he makes contact, I don't know. I mean,
yeah, at the end there, yeah. Well, okay. But he didn't ask if he swung,
and he didn't call a hit by pitch. So we're kind of in the dark
here, and Terry Francona asks for a replay, and he makes the ump with the
cool hair laugh while he does it. But I'm guessing he probably said, like, yeah,
you check that replay, and if he doesn't hit him, he's fucking, I'm pulling him
from the game for lying to me. And then I think this is when the
cool ump checks with the first base. I'm like, hey, did he swing? No? Okay,
cool. Gotcha. And then he's cool umps, like, you got a ball? You need a
ball? You got to warm up? Hey, pitch. Hey, pitch. You want to warm up?
You want to warm up? No? Okay, good. Okay, cool. I'm just fucking bored. And
this ump's like, man, dude, be cool about it. We're not supposed to be that
cool. They come back, and they say, yeah, that hit him in the hand. And
this pisses Brandon Hyde off because he says, you saw on the fucking board that
he fucking swung. He's all mad. He's like, you just showed the whole stadium, the
replay. It shows that he swung, but we can't, we're just going to hit by
a pitch. And they're like, well, we can't review that. We can only review the
hit by a pitch. He's like, well, you just showed everyone. Everyone knows it. What
do you mean? He's like, well, the first base ump said he didn't swing. So
he turns the first base up and says, you missed it. You fucking missed it.
First base, hey, that's enough. He says, fucking blew it. Stop! And then he throws
him out. Assump's not taking any guff. Nothing. Now Hyde's going to get real mad
because he threw him out as he was walking back to the dugout. He's got
to put his lineup card in his pocket, but his shirt's getting in the way,
and that's going to frustrate him even more. You threw me out of the game
because I said you fucking missed that? You threw me out of the fucking game
because I said you missed that? Then what the fuck did you throw me out
of the game for? I was going back to the fucking dugout. Then he turns
and sees the other ump, and he's, that face is hilarious. Turns to see the
other ump, who he actually knows, and he's going to try and reason with him.
He'll say, I'm walking back to the fucking dugout, and this motherfucker throws me out
of the fucking game. I just said I missed that. I didn't take one step.
He gets nowhere at that ump, so he's going to go to the home plate
cool hair umpire, and he's going to try and plead his case with him, and
he just says the same story. I'm walking back with my head fucking facing away,
and then he fucking tosses me? Who the fuck is that? Who
the fuck is this guy? I like that line. He says, I know, I know,
but that's not fucking right. It's the first fucking inning. That's not fucking right.
but it's not fucking right. Fuck off. And then he leaves because he got ejected,
so he doesn't get to watch the rest of the game, but it's probably a
good thing because he didn't have to watch this pass ball, which advanced the runners
from first and second to second third, and then he didn't have to watch the
very next batter hit a fly ball to left field, and his left fielder fall
on his face for no reason, which allowed the run to score. So, brutal start
to the game by the Orioles. Man, just brutal. DJ Stewart thinking, I wish I
was fucking ejected from this one. It would be more fun than being me right
now. Well, this one was brought to you by DraftKings, and download the DraftKings Sportsbook
app or the Fantasy Baseball and play some games and make some bets and bet
on the Orioles. They probably don't cover, but I think they cover more than the
Yankees. don't cover at all, so just choose the Yankees to not cover. There's your
winner.
