Click timestamps to jump to that momentIdro Suzuki got ejected one time in his
Major League Baseball career. And this
is that ejection. It was a big moment. I
remember this. It was like news. First
pitch, fast ball in there for a strike.
Next pitch, they're going to be like,
"All right, let's move it a little off
the plate again. In there for a strike.
0 and2 now is like, those seem pretty
close. I'm going to have I'm going to
make him bring it in." And they say,
"No, we're going to go further away cuz
he's given us the calls." Bam. Boom.
You're out. Iro puts the bat on the
ground, draws a little line. Immediate
ejection. He says, "You're trying to
disrespect me like that. You're trying
to disrespect me like that. Drawing
lines in the dirt. Uh-uh." If you don't
watch a lot of baseball, that is like a
universal no. No. You can't draw lines
in the dirt. They eject you immediately.
You also can't use the word you. You
screwed up. You're so bad. It's like
that was bad. So, Iro knows that. He
kind of knows what he was doing. Rung
up. Punched out right in the face. Watch
this. Is it a strike? It's a little off.
Kind of close enough, I think. Up. Iro
turns and looks at him. And then he
looks at Ichro and then he punches him
out. Bam. Right in his face. So, Ichro
says, "It was over here, dude. It was
right over there." And he says, "That's
enough of that. You're gone." Let's see
if Icho was right in his assessment.
I've overlaid the two videos. We have
the ball coming in and Iro's bat kind of
if it kept going that way. Yeah, I do
think when it crosses the plate's bat's
behind the plate. When it crosses the
plate, I think it was close enough to be
called a strike. Who knows? When you
watch all three pitches at the same
time, they're similar enough. But when
you watch here, the first pitch, that's
over the plate. The next pitch, a little
further, that catches the edge of the
plate. Andro says a little bit further
and I'm going to be mad. I'll probably
draw a line. I'll be so mad. And if
you're the pitcher, you're like, I'm
just going to keep going further and
further outside to see if he gives it to
me. And he went further outside and they
gave it to him. Good pitching,
not great humping.
