Dodgers blow it open in the 6th, a breakdown
What Happened
In the top of the 6th inning of Game 2 of the NLDS between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers break the game wide open. The Giants lead 2-1, but the Dodgers are threatening with Trea Turner on second base and no outs. Trea Turner, the Dodgers' leadoff hitter, rips a double down the line to start the inning against Giants pitcher Dominic Leone. Trea Turner, known for his electrifying speed, keeps his helmet on as he reaches second base, ready to quickly score if given the opportunity. Next up is Dodgers catcher Will Smith, who proceeds to work a masterful at-bat against Leone. Smith takes three consecutive balls, fouling off a couple of pitches in the zone, demonstrating incredible discipline and pitch recognition. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts then calls on left-hander Alex Wood to face Cody Bellinger with the bases loaded and one out. Bellinger, the 2019 National League MVP, steps up to the plate and quickly jumps on a pitch, lacing a two-run double off the wall. Bellinger proudly celebrates his go-ahead hit, doing his signature helmet toss as the Dodger Stadium crowd erupts. "That's what we f***ing do, baby!" Bellinger exclaims. The onslaught continues as center fielder AJ Pollock follows with a two-run single down the line, extending the Dodgers' lead to 5-2. Pollock pumps his fist emphatically as he reaches first base, the Dodgers now firmly in control of the game. Dodgers catcher Will Smith, who earlier demonstrated such poise at the plate, watches the action unfold with a grin, satisfied with his contribution to the big inning. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is visibly giddy on the top step of the dugout, his team seizing momentum in this crucial playoff matchup against their NL West rival. The Dodgers have blown the game wide open in the 6th inning, capitalizing on key hits from their star players to take a commanding 5-2 lead. With the series tied 1-1, this offensive outburst has the Dodgers poised to even the series and shift the momentum in their favor.

bobbling the whole time couple guys let
this helmet fall a lot of speedsters end

that is in the zone in the zone out of
the zone and he took it the whole way
just spat on in the zone in the zone out
of the zone
good pitches by gossman and they're
right in the same line and they go
different ways it was just a really
impressive at-bat good takes by will

in a new guy that's a ball out to chris
taylor and that's the ball out again
that's in play it's up is there going to
be a play made on it wilmer flores
running the right side i think a couple
years ago before that netting was
mandated he might have had a plan this
because look at him lunge here ugh that
looks like a confident lunge like it
would have went right into his glove
instead hits the netting fouled back
again two twos to count and they really
wanted that pitch for strike three
they really wanted it's top of the zone
it's right above the belt i
don't know
pretty borderline i think it goes either
way so now the count is full
and that's ball four which means bases
are loaded with one out which means a
fly ball scores a run which means a wild
pitch pass ball scores a run a walk
obviously scores a run so as a batter if
you're bellinger coming up you're
thinking well fly ball scores a run i
should swing early because he doesn't
want to get behind in the count he
doesn't want to walk me or are you
thinking hey this dude just walked a guy
he's missing the zone be patient make
