The Braves come back from being down 7 in the 8th, a breakdown

What Happened

The Atlanta Braves mount an incredible comeback in the bottom of the 8th inning against the visiting team. Starting pitcher Bryse Wilson has a solid outing, striking out a batter and getting a ground out to end the top of the 8th with the Braves leading 7-2. However, things quickly unravel for the Braves in the bottom half of the inning. Reliever Shane Greene struggles with his command, walking multiple batters. First baseman Freddie Freeman steps up and delivers an RBI single, cutting the deficit to 8-3. Outfielder Marcell Ozuna then walks and a wild pitch allows another run to score, making it 8-4. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud follows with an RBI single and suddenly the Braves are within three runs at 8-5. With the tying run at the plate, manager Brian Snitker decides to bring in left-hander A.J. Minter. Minter promptly uncorks a wild pitch, allowing the Braves to pull within two at 8-6. Outfielder Adam Duvall then laces an RBI double to make it a one-run game at 8-7. The Braves have scored six runs in the inning and the comeback is on. "Everything you're doing blows," catcher Tyler Flowers tells Minter from the dugout, frustrated by the relief pitcher's struggles. Utility player Charlie Culberson steps up and rips a game-tying two-run double, electrifying the Atlanta crowd. "That's what I did!" Culberson exclaims, pumping his fist. In the bottom of the 9th, first baseman Freddie Freeman crushes a walk-off home run to right field, capping the improbable 9-8 victory for the Braves. Reliever Shane Greene sits dejected in the dugout, his face in his hands, while his teammates console him. Shortstop Dansby Swanson and utility player Johan Camargo embrace in celebration, overjoyed by the stunning comeback win. "I'm one of you, I'm one of you," rookie outfielder Cristian Pache tells Swanson and Camargo in the clubhouse afterward, eager to be part of the Braves' success. The Braves' masked coaching staff erupts in excitement over the walk-off victory, the team's mascot dancing alone in the empty stadium. This wild win provides the Braves with a huge momentum boost as they head into the new season.
