BYU pulled off a wild punt return touchdown against Kansas State, and chaos played a big part. Parker Kingston muffed the catch, chased the ball down, slipped a tackle, and then Kansas State defenders took care of the rest—for the wrong team. Multiple Kansas State players accidentally took out their own teammates. On one dive attempt, number 16 tripped up number 2. Then number 36 collided with number 25. That left an opening for Kingston to burst free. Number 8 tried to leap over a downed teammate but was stopped short. The whole play ended with BYU scoring their first punt return touchdown in 11 years.
After reaching the end zone, Kingston collapsed from exhaustion. Teammates tried to celebrate while he lay flat, barely moving. One started hitting him, playfully trying to hype him up. Another smacked him in the ribs. Then Kingston leaned over and threw up on the field. Number 12 walked into frame and seemed unbothered by the puke, standing right next to it and Kingston’s face. Clearly, Parker Kingston had done enough. BYU got the score, Kansas State tackled themselves more than the returner, and Kingston ended up sick on the turf.
