Vladimir Guerrero Jr. came up in the bottom of the ninth still looking for his first hit of the game. Down to the last couple of outs, he poked a soft liner down the right-field line for a double, finally getting on the board. The helmet nearly came off as he hustled to second, and the crowd woke up. His teammates were fired up, and Guerrero looked ready to spark something bigger. Moments later, with the winning run on second, a teammate smacked a walk-off home run, ending the game with a bang.
The reaction from the Blue Jays dugout was pure chaos. Guys were jumping, yelling, and tossing everything in sight. Freddy Galvis flung sunflower seeds like it was a parade. Teoscar Hernández nailed Vlad and Jurickson Profar with a perfect water toss. The team mobbed the hero at home plate as fans and players soaked in the rare excitement. Vlad looked around, wide-eyed, wondering if games in the majors are always like this. Not quite. But with his talent and energy, moments like these might become more common.
