Tony Kemp with the pinch hit walk-off home run, a breakdown

Tony Kemp came off the bench in the bottom of the 10th with the game tied 3-3 and launched a walk-off home run just left of the foul pole. He was 0 for his last 12 before the hit and had only one homer in his last 123 plate appearances. He dropped the bat and pointed skyward as the crowd erupted. Garrett Cole sprinted in with a hug, and Kemp refused to toss his helmet, telling his teammates to try and take it from him. The dugout exploded. Verlander jumped in the mix, Chirinos went nuts, and Framber Valdez gave a heavy-handed celebration slap.

Kemp rounded third and nearly overshot home plate, bouncing with energy. Altuve, off to the side and oddly doing jumping jacks, eventually joined the pile. Caray acted out his usual postgame routine. Gatorade flew through the air, and water followed. George Springer and Lance McCullers added hugs to the pile before the manager stepped in for an embrace of his own. Altuve capped it off with a light-hearted comment, and a poor sideline reporter caught the brunt of the celebration bath. The Astros walked it off with style, and Kemp was the hero.
