The Padres Score 6 in the 9th to tie the game, a breakdown

The Rockies held an 11-5 lead heading into the ninth and needed just three outs. It unraveled fast. Tatis reached on a soft single, then Naylor struck out for the first out. That should have been the beginning of the end, but instead it opened the door. Machado followed with a single, then Hosmer battled through a long at-bat and roped a two-run single to make it 11-7. With two outs, the Rockies still had a cushion, but Renfroe crushed a game-tying, two-run homer. That ended Done’s night on the mound, who clearly did not get the job done.

Wade Davis came in to stop the bleeding, but he didn’t have it either. He allowed back-to-back singles, then issued a walk to load the bases. The tying run stood on second. Facing the batter who started the inning, Davis stayed in and threw a pitch that got smacked up the middle. Two runs scored, and just like that, the Padres tied it 11-11. Snailor, the second out of the inning, also recorded the final out, but the damage was done. Colorado’s bullpen collapsed, San Diego forced extras, and later won it. The Rockies let a six-run ninth-inning lead slip away.
