Pitcher throws up while opponent gets ejected, a breakdown

Amir Garrett came into the seventh inning with a big lead and started strong. He threw a few solid sliders, got a strikeout, and looked locked in. But then things went sideways. After a swing-and-miss strike three, he turned back to the mound and dropped into a crouch. Something was off. He started breathing harder, looked shaky, and clearly wasn’t feeling right.

While Garrett was dealing with whatever hit him, the White Sox dugout got loud. The umpire got into it with them and tossed Andrew Benintendi. In the middle of all this, Garrett was still crouched on the mound, trying not to puke. Trainers came out, but he kept pushing them away. Then it happened. He finally threw up on the field, almost on a guy’s shoes. Multiple people handed over towels as things got messier. Garrett grabbed his pants, tried to stand up, and eventually picked his preferred towel from the pile.

Meanwhile, confusion reigned. No one seemed sure what was happening at first. Benintendi got tossed without knowing Garrett was sick. The White Sox manager came out to argue the ejection, realized Garrett was vomiting on the mound, and backed off. A new pitcher had to come in cold in a blowout game, with the mound still smelling bad. Strange mix of drama and disaster in the seventh.
