Brandon Uhse came up big for Houston with a go-ahead three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth against Sam Houston, but it didn’t go exactly as planned. After launching the ball deep over the left field wall, Uhse broke into a full swaggering trot that quickly crashed back to earth when he tripped rounding first. The first base coach couldn’t help but laugh as Uhse hit the dirt mid-strut. Instead of brushing it off, he seemed visibly annoyed, cussing himself out while his teammates tried to keep the energy up.
Sam Houston seemed unimpressed, possibly irritated by the celebration and maybe the stumble. In the next frame, a pitch sails near the head of Houston’s number seven. Crowd reaction was mixed, with some fans fired up and others looking for drama. The umpire issued a warning after things got heated on both sides. Houston coaches came out arguing, pointing out that they were all local and no one needed to get tossed. Houston went on to win the game, but the moment everyone remembered came from Uhse’s trip.
What made it more interesting is that in the official highlight posted later, the trip was edited out. The bat flip and home run trot stayed in, but the fall didn’t make the cut. Uhse himself retweeted the clip, but fans online clearly noticed the missing footage. It was a standout moment both for the swing and the stumble, and it probably should’ve been left in.
