Paul Goldschmidt and Aaron Judge had a quick exchange after Goldschmidt took a fastball down the middle and drove it for a hit. As he reached base, Judge asked him what pitch he hit. Goldschmidt told him it was a fastball right over the plate. Judge followed by asking what he was trying to do with it, and Goldschmidt explained he just reacted to what looked like a straight pitch coming right at him. Judge took note and responded with a quick “Thanks, man, I’ll try to do the same thing.”
Next at-bat, Judge steps in and gets a similar pitch. He gets a fastball over the middle, just like Goldschmidt said. Judge doesn’t miss it and hits it right back where it came from. As he reaches first base, he looks over at Goldschmidt and says thanks. Simple communication, effective result.
