Orioles and Blue Jays dugouts empty, a breakdown

Things got heated when the Blue Jays faced the Orioles in a game that saw Alek Manoah give up three home runs, including two to Ryan Mountcastle. Mountcastle went deep in the second and again in the fourth, followed by DJ Stewart tagging Manoah with another homer. After back-to-back bombs, the game took a turn. Manoah drilled Maikel Franco in the fourth, sparking anger from the Orioles. Franco clearly believed it was intentional, and Orioles manager Brandon Hyde was furious, shouting at umpires and getting into it with Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo.

Benches cleared as both bullpens stormed the field. Things didn’t escalate physically, but there was plenty of yelling, shoving, and finger-pointing. Freddie Galvis tried to get in the mix but Vladimir Guerrero Jr. stepped in, physically lifting Galvis and carrying him away from the fray. Manoah was ejected, visibly frustrated, shouting that he couldn’t just throw pitches over the plate after getting rocked for two home runs. He claimed the pitch slipped and insisted he was trying to pitch inside, not hit Franco. MLB didn’t buy it and handed him a five-game suspension. Manoah wasn’t happy. Neither were the Orioles. Tension ran high in a game that went off the rails fast.
