Michigan started hot in their College World Series matchup against Florida State. Jessie Franklin crushed a 94 mph fastball deep to right in the first inning, putting pressure on early. In the fifth, Michigan added another run after Jordan, last name unclear, knocked a curveball through the right side for a single. Franklin followed with a hit of his own, going from first to third despite an awkward slide that left him face-first in the dirt. Jimmy Kerr finished the rally by bringing Jordan home with a base hit, pushing the lead to 2-0.
That was all the offense they needed. Tommy Henry pitched a gem, going the distance and shutting out Florida State on just two hits. Along the way, he got help from some solid defense, including a nice stop by Kerr and a quick turn at second. There was a brief scare on a hard comebacker that Tommy couldn’t snag, but he shook it off, locked back in, and finished the job with a strikeout to seal it. Michigan moves on with a strong win behind Franklin’s bat and Henry’s arm.
