Justin Turner strikes out to end the game and gets mad, a breakdown

The Padres were one strike away from closing out the Dodgers, fans already on their feet. Max Muncy came to the plate as the tying run and got hit by a pitch. That brought up Justin Turner with the Dodgers still down. Turner worked the count to 1-2, then got rung up on a borderline strike that he clearly disagreed with. The pitch looked close, maybe just ticking the plate, but Turner wasn’t buying it. He let the umpire hear it and made slight contact on his way back, which is an automatic fine and can mean a suspension.

Manager Dave Roberts jumped in fast, throwing his body between Turner and the ump to stop things from escalating. The ump tried to get to Roberts to warn him or get control of the situation, but Roberts just kept blocking him off like a basketball box-out drill. The crew on the field looked chaotic, with everyone scrambling to avoid further issues. One of the umpires, known for being one of the few with a beard, struggled to defuse the scene before both sides finally backed down. Emotions ran high, but the Padres held on for the win.
