Game 5 of the NLDS had a strange moment when Joc Pederson hit what looked like a home run down the right-field line. The ball sliced into the corner, disappeared behind the wall, and confused everyone. Juan Soto threw his hands up, unsure if it stayed in play. Pederson assumed it was gone. Fans were pointing and talking, trying to figure out what happened. From Soto’s angle, the ball vanished and never came back. A Dodgers bullpen guy ended up walking away with it. After a review, the umpires ruled it a ground rule double, not a home run. Pederson had to go back to second base.
Max Muncie stepped in after that and erased the confusion by blasting a clear homer. In the outfield, one fan with great positioning somehow gave up the advantage by stepping down a level. That allowed another fan to jump on him, but neither caught the ball. It ended up in the hands of a fan just sitting comfortably in the front row. He grabbed it clean and celebrated like he knew it was coming. Dodgers hitters kept mashing, and the fans stayed loud.
