Ian Kinsler, mostly known for his glove and bat, took the mound in a blowout and turned heads with a surprisingly clean inning. He stepped in as a pitcher during a lopsided game and threw strikes, including a curveball that caught some attention. After allowing a soft single and a couple walks, he found himself in a jam with the bases loaded. But he got out of it with a hard-hit lineout to Manny Machado and walked off the mound without surrendering a run.
Then he came up to bat the next inning and made it count. Facing a real pitcher in a real at-bat, Kinsler fouled off a couple pitches before launching a home run on an 0-2 count. One scoreless inning on the mound, one homer at the plate. He joked after the game about feeling like Babe Ruth, and the comparison wasn’t that far off for one night. The two-way moment came in a 10-2 blowout, but Kinsler clearly had fun with it and made the most of a rare opportunity.
