DJ LeMahieu finished the 9th inning comeback and the Yanks walk it off, a breakdown

The Yankees pulled off a wild ninth-inning comeback capped by DJ LeMahieu’s walk-off single. Down two in the bottom of the ninth, Gio Urshela tied it up with a two-run homer. Cameron Maybin got on base, and DJ punched a soft grounder to the right side. Maybin turned on the jets and raced home. Jay Bruce made a solid throw from first, but Maybin slid in just ahead of the tag. The Yankees celebrated, though Urshela quickly waved everyone off once he realized the play was under review.

After looking at the replay, umpires confirmed Maybin was safe. The dugout burst back into celebration. Gleyber Torres hugged DJ like he never wanted to let go. Brett Gardner and Clint Frazier looked like they were sorting out some miscommunication in the outfield. Phil Nevin tossed sunflower seeds everywhere. DJ tried to get ready for the YES Network interview, pausing to rinse dip from his mouth and adjust his cap, reminding everyone he earned the spotlight with that game-winning hit.
