The Diamondbacks brought the power early in Game 1 against the Brewers with back-to-back home runs that got plenty of attention. Corbin Carroll launched a 440-foot shot to the upper deck off a hanging changeup. He caught it flush and stood to admire it as it sailed deep. The swing was smooth and the reaction said it all. On the very next pitch, Ketel Marte followed with a no-doubt line drive homer off an inside fastball. He too took his time watching it go, and even the umpire behind the plate couldn’t help but turn and watch. Both home runs had a little flair, but Carroll’s towering shot might edge Marte’s in terms of distance and style. Still, the back-to-back punches set the tone and gave Arizona an early spark.
