Dave Roberts gets ejected for saying a pitch was low, a breakdown

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts got tossed for the first time this season after sticking up for Gavin Lux during a heated moment behind the plate. The ump called a borderline low pitch a strike, which Lux clearly didn’t agree with. Roberts jumped in to defend his rookie, barking at the ump about his strike zone. After a bit of back-and-forth, the ump had enough and threw Roberts out. The ejection seemed to come from Roberts simply insisting the pitch was low, but the ump didn’t like the tone. The two danced a bit near the dugout before Roberts finally left the field. Lux had a mix of appreciation and awkwardness, clearly caught between liking the support and being confused by the escalation. The whole thing looked like a buildup of frustration more than a fiery outburst. Roberts took the hit to get his point across, even if it didn’t change the call.
