Ball bounces out of Jo Adells glove and over the fence, a breakdown

A bizarre series of bounces and ricochets made for some wild moments on the field. First up, Royals pitcher Jakob Junis kicked off the weirdness by literally kicking off a double play. A comebacker hit his foot, shot into the air, and the defense turned two. The umps initially ruled it a regular out but overturned it after review. Junis seemed pretty proud of the footwork. Then things got crazier with a play involving Jacoby Jones. A grounder struck off VanMeter’s knee, bounced around to Kyle Farmer at second, and José Iglesias somehow managed to cover and get the out. It looked chaotic, and the pitcher even lost his balance trying to finish the play.

But the wildest moment came from Angels rookie Jo Adell. In a game at the Rangers’ new stadium, a routine fly ball turned into a disaster. Adell tried to make a catch near the warning track but misjudged it. The ball glanced off the end of his glove and launched over the wall for a home run. He stood in disbelief while the pitcher looked furious. Adell was clearly shaken, hanging his head and walking over to Mike Trout for support. Trout, ever the veteran, reassured him, saying he’d been there and blamed the hard-to-see stadium roof. So while it was a tough moment for Adell, Trout helped keep things in perspective, even joking about it a little. Just another day of strange bounces in a weird season.
