Aaron Judge breaks the wall while making a great catch, a breakdown

Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge made a wild catch in the bottom of the eighth with the tying run at the plate. Mike King worked his pitches well, mixing two-seamers and sliders to keep JD Martinez guessing. JD finally got a piece, sending a deep shot to right-center where Judge chased it down on the warning track. He made the catch but slammed into the outfield wall, busting it open. At first, it looked like he was fine and waved everyone off. But the next day, it came out that he hurt his foot kicking the concrete part of the wall. Turns out it wasn’t a door, just a wall that gave way under his weight.

The umps ruled the play dead once the ball went out of play after Judge landed in the bullpen, so Max Muncie, who didn’t tag up, was awarded second base. Boone came out to argue but kept it civil. He didn’t like the call but didn’t want to burn a challenge. Even Dave Roberts shrugged at the explanation but wasn’t complaining. King had to pitch out of the jam with Muncie now in scoring position. He kept leaning on sliders, eventually freezing the batter with a middle-zone pitch for strike three to end the threat. Yankees held the lead, but they might be without Judge for a while, depending on how bad that foot injury is.
