1860’s Baseball League, No Gloves Allowed And Also Maybe No Catching

A group of players took part in a vintage baseball game complete with old-school uniforms, no gloves, and quirky rules. One guy stood out by refusing to wear the full outfit and drinking from a bright red Gatorade bottle, clearly not taking the whole “period authenticity” thing too seriously. The league seems less about athleticism and more about having fun, with several players struggling to field cleanly and a few bizarre plays, like two defenders trying to cover third base at once before both botch the play.

One strange rule allows fielders to record an out if the ball is caught after one bounce, which explains a few questionable diving plays. A few guys looked like they were clearly too polished for the level of competitiveness, including one batter with a swing that just seemed unfair compared to the rest. Others had trouble running bases properly or making simple throws, but no one seemed to mind much. Everyone looked like they were enjoying the laid-back pace. The highlight might have been a runner sliding into home, nearly slipping on the plate, but managing to stay upright. In the end, it looked like a group of people having fun with baseball in its most relaxed form.
