The Dodgers and Padres play through an earthquake, a breakdown

During a recent game between the Dodgers and Padres, players and fans experienced an earthquake mid-inning. Dodgers utility man Kiké Hernández stepped into the box as the camera started shaking. He looked confused, glancing around while the stadium buzzed with uncertainty. The pitcher kept throwing, unaware of what was happening, delivering a strike as everything rocked. The crowd grew louder, and players tried to figure out the situation. One outfielder later said he thought it might be something more serious, like an active shooter, based on the crowd’s reaction.

Hernández asked the batboy what was going on and got a quick answer — earthquake. The catcher repeated “terremoto,” Spanish for earthquake, then looked equally stunned. Despite everything, the pitcher kept going, still seemingly unaware. He tossed a few more pitches as the camera picked up the stadium swaying and fans reacting. The count ran full, and Hernández fought off a couple pitches before putting the ball in play for an easy out.

The wildest part? The pitcher had no clue an earthquake hit until he got back to the dugout. Through nerves and confusion, everyone on the field somehow played right through it.
