The Cubs and Reds were tied 3-3 in the 10th when Kyle Schwarber came up looking for a fastball. The Reds tried to fool him with off-speed pitches, including a changeup that froze him at the plate. But on the next pitch, they missed their spot with a fastball. Instead of going high, it landed middle, and Schwarber was ready. He connected and launched a pop-up that ended up in the netting. One fan tried to catch it, but it was “my tie guy” who snagged the souvenir off the railing, stealing the moment from nearby kids.
The Cubs dugout exploded. Schwarber celebrated with a huge helmet toss. Heyward, Rizzo, and the rest of the team joined in. Rizzo threw playful jabs, Javy Baez jumped in, and high-fives flew all around. My tie guy became a minor legend, grinning and soaking up the attention. Then came the classic Gatorade ambush. The Cubs doused Schwarber twice, adding bubble gum for good measure. He was soaked and sticky, but smiling. Solid win, strong finish, and a fun walk-off moment at Wrigley.
