Yadier Molina walks it off to send the series to game 5, a breakdown

Game 4 of the NLDS between the Braves and Cardinals went into extra innings with the series on the line. Tied in the 10th, Kolten Wong led off with a ground-rule double. The Braves brought in Julio Teherán, who wasn’t even on the original postseason roster. After an intentional walk to Goldschmidt, the Cardinals tried to move runners with a double play ball. Teherán fielded it well, got the first out at second, but the throw wasn’t in time to complete it. That left runners on the corners with one out.

Yadier Molina came up with a chance to win it. He was 1-for-15 in the series but had been making fly ball contact. On the first pitch, he lifted a sac fly to left. Wong tagged and scored easily. The throw came home with no real shot. Molina celebrated hard, flinging his bat and helmet, later fired up with a sharp throat-slice gesture that turned heads. He had tied the game earlier and won it with the sac fly. His teammates celebrated, but there was a clear edge to it. Postgame, the Cardinals claimed Molina was responding to Ronald Acuña Jr.’s celebrations earlier in the series. Either way, Molina sent it to Game 5 with style and fire.
