During the 2019 United States Disc Golf Championship, Nikko Locastro pulled off one of the wildest shots of the tournament on hole 13B. Sitting at 11 under and in fourth place in his group, he needed something big to stay in the mix. After a solid opening shot down the tight tree-lined fairway, he lined up his second throw on the par-5. The basket sits across a parking lot and behind more obstacles, making it a tough read. Locastro sent the disc wide, clipped the curb, and it skipped straight into the chains for an albatross.
The crowd erupted. Locastro celebrated by jumping, throwing his hat, running around a tree, and even adding a spin move. It felt like a full audition for a musical. The hat throw landed awkwardly, but he didn’t care. The energy from the shot carried over. The albatross boosted him from 11 under to 14 under, and he kept that momentum through the final round. He went on to finish tied for third in the championship. The hole, the shot, and the celebration all stood out as one of the top moments of the event.
