The Brewers Score 3 Runs on a Wild Pitch, a breakdown

The Brewers were on the road in 2014 when chaos broke out during a top-of-the-third inning. After a leadoff walk and a flyout, Mark Reynolds snuck a double just inside the line, scoring a run and putting runners on second and third. An intentional walk followed, loading the bases with two outs. Then came the meltdown. A breaking pitch crossed up the catcher and skipped away. He chased it down but tried to get the runner at home and threw it wildly, allowing two runs to score. While the infield tried to recover, Jean Segura on third noticed no one was watching him and sprinted home for a third run. The Brewers bench erupted while the catcher crouched in disbelief. On the next pitch, the batter struck out. If not for the wild pitch, the inning would’ve ended scoreless.

To top it off, the Brewers pulled off a nearly identical play four years later, scoring three runs on another wild mishap. It’s a rough look for any defense, and somehow the Brewers ended up on the right side of both.
