The Angels and White Sox game was chaotic from start to finish. The Angels jumped out to a 3-0 lead but then started falling apart defensively. Shohei Ohtani, who pitched and hit in this game, got into trouble after a botched double play led to runners advancing. A wild pitch and a passed ball helped the White Sox tie it up. Ohtani got knocked over at the plate during a play but walked off under his own power and seemed fine. Rookie Jared Walsh responded in the next inning with a big homer to take back the lead, making a clean grab in the outfield celebration section of fans.
Things stayed messy. Iglesias came in for the save attempt but struggled too. He hit a batter, missed his target on a bunt play, and later launched a throw into left field trying to get a lead runner. The White Sox tied it up again. In the bottom of the ninth, Dexter Fowler got on base, Rendon drew a walk, and Walsh came up to bat once more. After three straight changeups, the count went to 3-1. He guessed fastball next and was right. He crushed it to deep left, walked it off, then almost knocked out Ohtani with his celebration helmet toss. Ohtani responded with a perfect water bottle squirt right to Walsh’s face. Iglesias found Walsh too, shook it off, and kept it moving. Wild game, strong finish, and Walsh continues to mash.
