Miguel Rojas turned a routine rundown into a stolen run thanks to smart base running and bad defense. With runners on first and third, Rojas hit a ball to right. One run scored as the throw came in wide, allowing both runners to advance. Rojas got caught between first and second but intentionally stayed in the rundown, stalling long enough for the lead runner to score. He was tagged and called out, but immediately argued he hadn’t been touched. After a brief delay, Miami challenged the play.
The review showed Rojas was right. The fielder whiffed on the tag, and despite everyone assuming the out was legit, the call was overturned. Rojas got awarded first base and Miami kept their challenge. The Rockies players looked confused and frustrated, especially Manny Machado, who realized what happened a beat too late. Manager Don Mattingly got a laugh out of it, while umpire CB Bucknor slowly, but clearly, announced the reversal. Miami capitalized on poor awareness from the Rockies and some heads-up gameplay by Rojas.
