The Strikers pulled off a wild comeback to grab the No. 2 seed after a tense finish against the Scorchers. With 17 runs needed off 12 balls, the Strikers were behind but still in it. The Scorchers keeper nearly changed the game with a diving play that looked like a runout but came half a second too late. Then he made a full sprint grab over his head to snag a pop-up, shifting momentum.
From there, the final overs turned chaotic. Jack Edwards came in and got out on his first ball. A series of miscommunications and aggressive running led to more wickets falling fast. One batter even got himself bowled while seemingly just trying to get his teammate Enrique back on strike. That teammate, Enrique, was clearly the man for the moment. He hit a massive six with nine needed off three, then hustled hard to grab two on the next.
That left just one run off the final ball. The infield came in. The pressure was on. Enrique stepped up and flipped it over the top for four. Game over. Strikers win and lock in the better seed for playoffs. The Scorchers had flashes on defense but couldn’t close it out.
