Teammates don’t help at all, a breakdown

UC Davis faced off against Long Beach State in a wild moment that turned a standard popup into chaos. A high foul ball landed in no man’s land near the dugout, and the pitcher came charging in to chase it. The catcher held back, and the first baseman delayed. The pitcher made the grab right at the edge of the dugout, catching the ball mid-leap while his momentum carried him forward. No one in the dugout braced for impact. They bailed out instead.

The pitcher crashed into the space where teammates should’ve been ready to stop his fall. His body twisted midair as he tried to catch himself. His hat flew off. Somehow, he stuck the landing without injury. One teammate was spotted curled up in the background, clearly bracing for the worst. It was a moment that mixed athleticism with a bit of comedy, highlighting the dangers of making plays near the dugout when your teammates scatter. Despite the near-collision and lack of support, the pitcher came out of it with the out and a clean jersey.
