Clint Hurdle got tossed from a game after a blown call on a tag play that replay couldn’t fix. During the play, the ump called the runner out, but the replay showed the tag clearly missed. Replay officials reviewed it and still upheld the out call, confusing everyone. Hurdle came out fired up, knowing he’d get ejected but wanting to make a statement. He told the ump to just toss him, calling the situation embarrassing. Fans watching the replay could see the issue. The system failed. The on-field ump had no angle, and the replay didn’t fix a clear mistake. Hurdle, and just about everyone else, didn’t understand how that happened.
